The Caux Interns Leadership Program is for people who care about personal and global change; and who have the courage to challenge themselves to make a difference. This summer the faculty added a new component to the program, which drew in a wider network of people from the global fellowship who have years of experience with IofC. Each intern was connected with someone who was not in Caux this year.

“I liked her honesty about things she has experienced,” said Nyawargak Joseph, a young Sudanese participant in the “Catch up with Ashley” session organized by Janyce Konkin, IofC’s Regional Coordinator of Programs in Alberta. “Her entire story motivated me to believe the South Sudanese Community can also benefit from the work of IofC.”

Caux Interns

Nearly every year since 1946, over 1300 participants from all over the world gather in Caux, Switzerland, attending one of the Initiatives of Change (IofC) international conferences held during the summer. A unique characteristic of these conferences is the community life. Participants are invited to join communities of between 12 and 20 people where general topics are discussed in an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.

At Caux, on the other side of the world, I found a place where I knew I was meant to be. Overlooking a spectacular view, I was able to find out who I was and make connections with inspiring people from all over the world. Though I was a little nervous, I was sure from day one that the interns program was going to be an enlightening experience. Now I can say without a doubt that I was not wrong about it. The workshops, my departmental work in reception and my conference participation taught me many skills, and I was able to make connections I would never have been able to make at any other internship.

I participated in the Caux Interns Leadership Program -- a five-week program focused on personal growth, leadership development, self-reflection, and the evolution of an individual's journey within a community based framework. The overall theme aligned with IofC's vision of building trust across the world's divides by becoming the change that you wish to see in the world.
