At a Special meeting of the IofC Canada association held by web conference on July 23, members unanimously approved a resolution to amend the purpose of the association to read as follows:

(a)   To foster healing and reconciliation, by providing workshops, seminars, and other training activities to the public about the principles of the worldwide Initiatives of Change movement, as described in the Preamble of the Articles of Initiatives of Change International.

(b)   To undertake activities ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the above charitable purpose.

This brings to fruition the long desired aim of amending the charitable objects of IofC Canada to reflect more accurately the nature of its activities and the broadening of support beyond its original Christian base. A major part of the change has been to move IofC Canada's purpose from the charitable category of 'advancement of religion' to that of 'other purposes beneficial to the community'. After an examination of our activities, CRA proposed a number of possible objects, of which 'fostering healing and reconciliation' seemed best to represented IofC's mission. It is of particular significance that the wording includes specific reference to the principles of the worldwide IofC movement.

This new expression of IofC's charitable purpose was given prior approval by CRA in May. The final piece in this long process was put in place as this newsletter was going to press, with the issuance of a Certificate of Amendment by Corporations Canada.
