Ottawa – July 27, 2016

Eight members of the Ottawa team (including four board members), along with Tim Hall visiting from Vancouver, hosted a farewell party for Viola Sebahana on the final day of her two years as office administrator in the national office. Viola worked with Initiatives of Change while pursuing her Master’s degree in social work, and upon her recent graduation accepted a full time professional position in her field.

Many messages of appreciation were received from different parts of the country. Janyce Konkin from Calgary and Joseph Vumiliya from Montreal joined the proceedings virtually, watching while others indulged in pizza and chocolate cake!

Richard Weeks, who trained and supervised Viola, thanked her for the willing and positive spirit in which she had always worked and for the way she embraced the values of IofC as her own. Many others echoed his sentiments, adding that Viola’s smiling presence would be missed.

Viola plans to continue volunteering with IofC, focusing on the Leadership Development Program at University of Ottawa.
