Janyce Konkin and Alana LaBelle attended a Retreat at Nordegg, Alberta, entitled Mending the Circle at the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights from Friday to Sunday, November 15-17th, 2013. Eighty-five people attended the Retreat, which was a culmination of the Centre’s two years of Community Dialogues. These dialogues brought together Alberta’s aboriginal and non-aboriginal communities in order to build trust and respect with the purpose of motivating collective change and a realization of human rights.

Between 8 and 25 South Sudanese have been regularly attending a new twice-monthly dialogue begun in September by Augustino Lucano and Khor Rheat Top, assisted by Janyce Konkin. The dialogues are meant to help bring the various tribes of Canada’s South Sudanese together to continue building trust and create a more cohesive community.

They write of their experience: "Each testimony of peace and reconciliation shared at Caux is the fabric in which hope and the will to change within and without is woven.
