IofC is one of the community partners at the Centre for Global and Community Engagement at the University of Ottawa at the University of Ottawa. For the winter term 2 placements were available as archival assistants working under the direction of Elaine Gordon in the IofC Ottawa office.

Sunnybrook United Church in Red Deer, Alberta was the setting for ceremonies held on June 30th 2012 to remember the children who attended the Red Deer Indian Industrial School from 1893 to 1919. Bill McLean, of the StoneyFirst Nation, whose father, Chief Walking Buffalo, attended the school,participated in the ceremonies along with several other Albertans who have been involved with Initiatives of Change - Charlene Bearhead, Maggie Hodgson, Jack Freebury, and Keith and Joy Newman.

A promotional video for Creators of Peace Circles in Canada has just been completed. Filmed by intern Tim Hall working alongside FLTfilms North America manager, Chris Hartnell, the video seeks to inform and inspire women to take part in Creators of Peace Circles. Women in the video are some of the participants of Peace Circles held in the Metro Vancouver area over the past 4 years
